The Importance of Hajj and Umrah and What Happens to Those Who Cannot Carry Out
We have talked a lot about the Importance of Hajj and Umrah
for Muslim believers. However, what happens to those who are unable to perform
the Hajj, the major pilgrimage? First, if the person is disabled because of a
fatal illness or that generates a disability that makes it impossible to move,
you can designate someone to make the pilgrimage instead. This pilgrimage by
delegation is only valid if the person chosen to replace the one who is
disabled, has already made his own Hajj.
Secondly, we have someone who has died without fulfilling
the Hajj. In that case what you have to do is that the offspring of the person
who has died perform the Hajj on their behalf, using the money of the deceased.
Importance of Hajj and Umrah and when to perform them
For the case of Umrah and according to the statement of
Allah, it should be carried out "during the known months", which are
Shawwal, Dh-ul Qa'ada and Dhu'l Hiya. Before the beginning of Shawwal, it is
not allowed to enter Ihrám, that is, a sacred state essential for the
pilgrimage.
